Three Construction Firms Compete for Midland School Bond Project
MIDLAND,Three construction firms — Barton Malow Builders, GMB/Clark Construction/Three Rivers Corporation, and Wolgast Corporation/The Collaborative — presented their cases to lead the Midland school bond project.
The special meeting at the MPS Administration Center lasted nearly three hours, including a closed session. The seven-member board will choose a firm during its regular meeting on Monday, Oct. 20.
Presentations Highlight Experience and Local Commitment
Barton Malow, which managed the district’s 2015 bond work, emphasized its strong local partnership. Project Executive Daryl Dombrow praised the firm’s history with the district and promised detailed facility assessments involving multiple engineering disciplines.
Three Rivers Corporation, represented by President Jon Lynch, underscored its Midland roots. “We’re deeply invested in this community,” Lynch said, noting that half of their 320 employees live in the district. The team pledged to align closely with Omni Tech, the district’s strategic planning partner.
Wolgast Corporation highlighted its ongoing projects in several nearby districts. Clinton Clark, Director of Construction Management, said Wolgast has completed over 40 facility assessments, with more than 30 resulting in successful bond approvals.
Board President Phil Rausch and Vice President Scott McFarland praised all three presentations, calling the decision “difficult but exciting.”
The board will also address other agenda items Monday, including a bus purchase, superintendent goal review, and acceptance of gifts exceeding $30,000.
