Batik Air Cancels 19 Flights Across Indonesia

Batik Air has announced the cancellation of 19 flights, causing widespread disruptions at some of Indonesia’s busiest airports. The sudden cancellations have left passengers struggling to rebook and rearrange their travel plans, particularly at key hubs such as Jakarta, Surabaya, Malang, and Makassar.

At Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK) in Jakarta—one of Southeast Asia’s largest airports—multiple flights were cancelled, impacting routes to Surabaya, Yogyakarta, and Makassar. Ahmad Yani International Airport (SRG) in Semarang and Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport (UPG) in Makassar were also heavily affected. In Jakarta, Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport (HLP) saw disruptions to flights bound for Surabaya and Malang, while Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) also faced cancellations, stranding both tourists and business travelers.

Key affected routes include:

  • Jakarta (CGK) → Semarang (SRG) & Makassar (UPG)
  • Yogyakarta (YIA) → Jakarta (CGK)
  • Jakarta (HLP) → Malang (MLG) & Surabaya (SUB)
  • Makassar (UPG) → Manado (MDC)

These routes are crucial for connecting regions across Indonesia, making today’s cancellations especially disruptive for travelers and businesses alike.

What passengers should do: Batik Air urges affected travelers to contact customer service immediately for rebooking or alternative arrangements. Support is available both at impacted airports and through official online channels. Passengers are also advised to check real-time flight status updates before heading to the airport.

Today’s 19 flight cancellations highlight the ripple effect disruptions can have on Indonesia’s aviation network. While Batik Air works to support affected travelers, passengers should prepare for possible delays as the airline manages the fallout.
