President HCSTSI Joins FBR Business Committee to Promote Fair Tax Policies
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued a list of business representatives under Sales Tax General Order No. 02 of 2025. These representatives will be consulted before any investigation or arrest in tax fraud cases.
Among the nominees, Saleem Memon, President of the Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders & Small Industry (HCSTSI), earned a well-deserved spot. His nomination reflects years of continuous efforts, practical initiatives, and valuable contributions to economic policy.
Strengthening Business Representation
President Saleem Memon described the nomination as recognition of HCSTSI’s tireless advocacy for traders and small industries. The Chamber has consistently pushed for tax reforms, a broader tax net, and transparent fiscal policies that support fairness and growth.
Over the years, the Hyderabad Chamber has sent several proposals and letters to the Chairman FBR, Finance Minister, and other senior officials. These efforts focused on restructuring FBR’s operations, restoring business confidence, and improving relations between the FBR, the government, and the business sector.
In addition, HCSTSI has worked on research-based policy suggestions to enhance revenue collection and encourage the inclusion of small traders into the formal economy. These initiatives aim to make tax compliance easier and strengthen Pakistan’s financial foundation.
Promoting Cooperation and Trust
Memon acknowledged that this success represents the collective trust of the business community across Sindh, excluding Karachi. He emphasized that the FBR’s decision marks the start of a new era of mutual respect and cooperation between the private sector and government institutions.
He thanked the Chairman FBR and Member Inland Revenue Operations for recognizing the vital role of small traders. Their inclusion in national-level policymaking ensures fairer representation and transparent decisions.
Memon reaffirmed his commitment to serve with honesty, integrity, and dedication. He pledged to protect business interests, promote transparency, and support fair tax implementation throughout Pakistan.
This appointment not only strengthens the HCSTSI FBR business committee partnership but also builds a bridge of trust that benefits traders and policymakers alike.
