PBTE ends admissions in vocational boys and evening programs from 2026-27
The Punjab Board of Technical Education (PBTE) has announced the discontinuation of vocational boys programs starting in the 2026-27 session. The change covers one-year and two-year vocational boys courses and Evening Extension Programs. The key phrase appears here in the first paragraph as intended. The decision comes following the national SOP guidelines for TVET institutes, issued in December 2024. Therefore, PBTE instructed all public and private institutes to stop admitting new students into these programs. Only courses authorized by the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC)
This will remain valid for future admissions, curricular and assessments. However, current students already enrolled in existing and previous sessions will still be allowed to complete their studies. They may also sit for the full number of examination chances as per the Assessment and Promotion Rules.
This move means a major shift in how vocational training operates for boys in Punjab. It may affect institute planning, student enrolment and course design. For example, institutes will now need to align fully with NAVTTC authorized courses, reducing duplicates or non-standard programs.
Overall, the board’s directive streamlines vocational education and ensures compliance with national standards. In addition, it protects the interests of students who are already in the pipeline. As a result, both institutes and learners can transition smoothly to the updated framework.
