Afghan Students Continue Education Across Balochistan Universities

A new report shows that 201 Afghan students are enrolled in universities across Balochistan. This reflects the growing educational connection between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
According to official data, 84 students study at the University of Balochistan, while 59 attend BUITEMS,the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences. In addition, 22 students are enrolled at the University of Loralai. Another 36 Afghan female students study at Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University.

Changing Student Policies

However, many Afghan students have already returned to Afghanistan before finishing their degrees. University officials explained that those who wish to continue their studies in Pakistan must first secure valid visas. This requirement applies to all returning students.
Sources added that the quota system for Afghan students in Balochistan’s universities has now been abolished. As a result, this change reflects broader updates in student visa policies and cross-border educational arrangements between the two neighboring countries.
These shifts highlight both challenges and opportunities for Afghan youth seeking higher education in Pakistan. Despite policy adjustments, many students continue to view Balochistan as a gateway to academic growth and regional cooperation.
