Antalya’s Tourism to Soar as COP31 Climate Summit Confirmed for November 2026

Antalya will host a major UN climate conference in late 2026. The COP31 summit is set for November 9 to 21. This event will draw representatives from 197 different countries.
Over 80,000 participants are expected to attend. The list includes about 70 heads of state. Consequently, local leaders call it an unprecedented opportunity.

Large-Scale Economic Boost Expected

The summit promises a major economic impact. Global analyses show similar events generate billions for hosts. For Turkey, COP31 should bring around $2 billion in foreign currency.
This marks a milestone for both tourism and diplomacy. Therefore, it will significantly elevate the country’s global brand value.

Extending the Tourism Season

The timing is perfect for Antalya’s tourism calendar. The event occurs in the typically quieter month of November. As a result, it will directly extend the city’s core tourism season.
Officials aim for the best November in the city’s history. They plan to transform the summit into a powerful promotional showcase. In addition, regions like Belek and Lara will be dedicated to hosting attendees.

Building on Record Success

This news builds on recent tourism records. Antalya welcomed over 17 million tourists in 2025. That figure was a new record for the second straight year.
The city is a premier global destination. Hosting COP31 will reinforce that strong position. Ultimately, it ensures global attention focuses on Antalya’s offerings.

Preparations Are Already Underway

National and local authorities have started extensive planning. The first official meeting was led by Minister Murat Kurum. He will serve as the president for COP31.
Tourism leaders confirm the summit’s massive scale. It will even surpass major events like the G20 meeting. All parties are working to ensure its success.
