Attock to Vaccinate 300,000 Children in 13-Day Anti-Measles Drive
The Attock district health authorities have announced a 13-day anti-measles campaign starting November 17. The drive will continue until November 29 and aims to vaccinate over 300,000 children aged between six and fifty-nine months. The initiative seeks to protect children from the life-threatening measles epidemic and prevent future outbreaks.
Deputy Commissioner Rao Atif Raza shared that preparations for the campaign are in their final phase. He chaired a meeting on Saturday to review all arrangements and ensure smooth implementation across the district. The meeting was attended by the chief executive of the district health authority, assistant commissioners of all six tehsils, and representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO).
Ensuring Full Coverage Across the District
Health officials briefed the meeting, confirming that all necessary steps have been completed. They noted that measles cases often rise in March, May, September, and November. Therefore, launching the campaign this month will help reduce transmission risks. Common symptoms of measles include throat infection, runny nose, fever, and eye irritation.
Over 300,000 children across the province will be vaccinated through fixed centres, mobile clinics, and outreach teams. In addition, special vaccination units will operate at district entry and exit points. Mobile teams will also conduct door-to-door visits to ensure that every eligible child receives protection.
Collective Responsibility for a Healthier Future
Deputy Commissioner Raza encouraged residents to actively participate in the campaign. He stressed that safeguarding children from diseases like measles and rubella requires joint community effort. “Protecting our children is everyone’s duty,” he said. Health officials assured that adequate resources, vaccines, and trained staff are in place to make the drive successful. With full cooperation, Attock aims to achieve 100% immunisation and a measles-free future.
