Azad Kashmir Declares Winter Vacations for Schools Starting December 26
The Azad Jammu and Kashmir government has announced winter vacations for all schools across the region. The decision applies to both public and private institutions. Education officials say the move aims to protect students and staff during extreme winter conditions. As a result, families can now plan ahead with clarity and confidence.
Winter Vacation Schedule in Azad Kashmir
According to the official notification, schools in cold areas will close from December 26, 2025. They will reopen on February 26, 2026. This schedule gives students a total of 63 days off. Therefore, it marks one of the longest winter breaks in the region.The Elementary and Secondary Education Department issued the notification. The Secretary formally approved the decision. Officials confirmed that the schedule applies equally to government and private schools. In addition, authorities stressed that schools must strictly follow the announced dates.For schools in relatively warmer areas, the government announced a shorter break. These institutions will close from December 29, 2025. Classes will resume on January 10, 2026. As a result, students in these areas will receive a 13-day winter vacation.
Winter Breaks Across Pakistan
Meanwhile, other regions have also finalized their winter plans. In Islamabad, federal schools and colleges will close from December 26 to January 3. Classes will resume on January 5, 2026. Private institutions regulated by PEIRA will follow the same schedule.Punjab has announced winter vacations from December 22 to January 10. However, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has adopted a zone-based policy. Warmer areas will observe shorter breaks. Colder zones will remain closed for longer periods.
Education authorities say these steps prioritize health and safety. They also aim to ensure learning continues smoothly after the break.
