Balochistan Universities Begin Leadership Excellence Training to Boost Higher Education

Balochistan leadership training began this week with a three-day workshop hosted by the National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE) under the Higher Education Commission. The event brings Vice Chancellors and Pro-Vice Chancellors from public universities together to build strong and modern leadership skills. The sessions help them respond better to current academic and administrative demands.
The programme covers practical areas such as strategic planning, governance, and financial sustainability. In addition, participants explore data-driven decision-making and innovation in teaching and research. As a result, they gain tools that support long-term growth in their institutions.

Focus on Collaboration and Future Growth

Minister of State for Federal Education Wajiha Qamar opened the workshop. She shared her connection with Balochistan and encouraged leaders to highlight the province’s resilience. She also stressed the role of policy reforms and collective action in strengthening universities. According to her, institutions must upgrade their capabilities to keep pace with rapid technological change.
Chairman HEC Nadeem Mahbub appreciated the commitment of the academic leaders. He noted that universities shape knowledge, skills, and social progress. Therefore, strong leadership is essential for improving performance. He also highlighted the great potential of Balochistan’s youth and urged universities to guide them towards national development.
Earlier, NAHE Managing Director Dr Noor Amna Malik welcomed participants and explained the structure of the training. She expressed hope that the workshop would inspire collaboration and shared problem-solving.
The programme includes sessions on digital transformation, research innovation, quality assurance, human resource development, and strategic partnerships. Experts from HEC, the State Bank, British Council Pakistan, and the US Embassy are leading these modules. Overall, the initiative reflects HEC’s ongoing commitment to supporting higher education leadership in Balochistan.
