Bungee Jump Death: Three Arrested After No Rope Attached
Three men have been arrested over a fatal bungee jump incident. The accident happened in São Paulo state, Brazil. Instructors failed to attach a rope to the woman. They then helped her jump from a bridge. Therefore, she fell 40 metres (130 feet) to the ground.
The victim was Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Footage of the incident went viral over the weekend. In the video, she is carried to the edge of the abandoned bridge. Then she is let go. As a result, she plunged straight down.
Police Investigation
Police are now investigating the men’s culpability. They may face a charge of homicide with eventual intent. This is when someone does not directly intend to kill. However, they assume the risk of death. Local news site Globo reported this detail.
