Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Update

Activision has officially confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will debut with four smaller Gunfight maps, included within its 16-map launch lineup. Treyarch Design Director Matt Scronce revealed the detail on social media, noting that these compact “Strike” maps are tailored for 2v2 Gunfight and Face Off matches but can also host chaotic 6v6 battles.

The confirmation brings Black Ops 7 in line with its predecessor, Black Ops 6, which also launched with four Strike maps such as Stakeout and Warhead. Scronce added that additional Strike maps, including “former fan favorites,” are planned for post-launch updates.

Set after the events of Black Ops 2, the upcoming title shifts the series into a futuristic setting for the first time since 2018’s Black Ops 4. The campaign will feature full four-player co-op, capped with an ambitious 32-player “Endgame” mission taking place on a large open-world map. Meanwhile, there are rumors that Zombies mode will return to the style of Black Ops 2’s TranZit, featuring interconnected areas and dynamic travel between locations. Multiplayer will continue to support staple modes like Team Deathmatch and Kill Confirmed, with the addition of smaller Strike maps reinforcing Treyarch’s trend of offering more compact, fast-paced arenas. Similar to Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops 6, these maps cater both to slower, tactical Gunfight rounds and frenetic 6v6 firefights.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 launches worldwide on November 14 for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, with day-one availability through Xbox Game Pass. A full multiplayer reveal, including gameplay from the confirmed Strike maps, will take place during the Call of Duty Next showcase on September 30.
