Chrono Trigger’s Music Gets an Orchestral Album

The legendary RPG is receiving a new, high-profile release—though not the one fans may expect. Chrono Trigger Melodies Across Time is a new orchestral CD album from Square Enix, available now for pre-order. The collection features 10 arrangements from the official “CHRONO TRIGGER Orchestra Concert” held in Tokyo. While not a game remake, this release serves as a premium collectible that celebrates the timeless soundtrack. It is currently available for $32.99 plus shipping from the Square Enix store.

A Celebration of an Iconic Soundtrack

The album includes beloved tracks like “Frog’s Theme,” “Secret of the Forest,” and “To Far Away Times,” all reimagined by a full orchestra. This release provides a new way for longtime fans to experience the emotional depth of Yasunori Mitsuda and Nobuo Uematsu’s classic score. The physical CD format makes it a tangible piece of memorabilia for collectors.
This follows previous comments from co-creator Yuji Horii that sparked remake rumors, which Square Enix later denied. The album, therefore, represents the only confirmed new Chrono Trigger product for 2026. It keeps the franchise in the cultural conversation while fans await potential future projects.

Keeping the Legacy Alive

While not a game, Melodies Across Time demonstrates Square Enix’s ongoing acknowledgment of the title’s enduring popularity. The quality of the arrangements offers both nostalgia and a fresh auditory experience. For many, the soundtrack is inseparable from the game’s magic and emotional impact.
The album’s release may renew hope for a modern re-release or remake, though nothing is officially announced. For now, it provides a beautiful, official way for the community to celebrate one of gaming’s most cherished soundtracks.
