Contempt Plea Filed Over Imran Khan Hospital Transfer
PTI has filed a contempt plea in the Supreme Court against the federal government over Imran Khan’s hospital transfer. The party says officials failed to follow the court’s August 18 order.PTI named Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the federal law minister and information minister as respondents. It asked the court to issue show-cause notices against those allegedly responsible.The party also requested Khan’s transfer to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad.
PTI Accuses Government of Defiance
PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja spoke after filing the petition. He alleged that officials deliberately blocked the former premier’s transfer.Raja rejected security concerns as a reason for the delay. He also denied claims that PTI workers planned to gather outside the hospital.According to Raja, the party could not prepare the petition with complete evidence earlier.
The Supreme Court had ordered Khan’s transfer within two days for medical treatment. A three-member bench issued the direction after hearing concerns about his health and access to doctors.The bench also ordered a complete medical examination at Shifa. It directed doctors to form a medical board and conduct the required tests.
Supreme Court Sets Medical Conditions
The court directed Dr Faisal Sultan and Dr Azma Khan to accompany Khan. It included an eye specialist and general physician on the medical board.Meanwhile, the court allowed Khan to meet family members once a week. However, it warned that officials could withdraw the permission after misuse.
The court barred Khan’s family and lawyers from sharing medical reports with media. PTI leaders assured the court that workers would not create political activity outside the hospital.The government opposed the transfer. However, the court recorded its objection and adjourned proceedings until September 16.The case remains before the Supreme Court, while PTI seeks treatment for Khan at Shifa.
