Dubai Launches AI Biometric Tunnel

Dubai Launches AI Biometric Tunnel

Dubai Police have introduced a revolutionary AI Biometric Tunnel that can identify people based on how they walk. The new system, developed by Dubiometrics, was unveiled at GITEX Global 2025. It analyzes a person’s gait and creates a unique “motion fingerprint” within just five seconds.
This system studies walking rhythm, joint movement, and body traits to recognize each individual accurately. Unlike traditional scanners, it doesn’t need fingerprints or face scans. Instead, it relies entirely on movement — making it faster, contactless, and more secure.

How It Enhances Smart Policing

The tunnel aims to strengthen forensic investigations and improve law enforcement efficiency. By merging gait analysis with facial and body recognition tools, authorities can identify individuals even when other data is missing.
For example, if someone hides their face or wears gloves, their unique walking style can still reveal their identity. In addition, the system helps maintain safety while ensuring privacy and ethical AI use.
Dubai’s adoption of such technology reflects its vision for AI-driven smart policing and innovation. Therefore, experts see it as a major step toward modern, efficient, and transparent security systems.
However, the initiative’s implementation and usage remain under official supervision.
