Edits App Update Brings New Creative Tools in Major Video Editing Boost

The newest Edits app update introduces several features designed to make video creation faster and more enjoyable. Meta has enhanced planning tools, added more templates, and expanded iOS functionality. As a result, creators get a smoother way to map ideas and build content.

Improved Planning and Visual Tools

The biggest change is the upgraded storyboard workflow. Creators can now map out ideas using digital sticky notes. Each note supports video clips, which helps you plan scenes in a more structured way. In addition, these notes sit directly on top of your project, making it easier to move from planning to editing.
Edits is also rolling out fresh templates based on trending music and popular formats. If you spot a video you like, you can tap Use template and swap in your own clips. Some users may also see a dedicated Templates tab, which is still rolling out across select regions.

New Widgets, Reactions, and Customization Options

iPhone users get new lock screen widgets that provide quick access to the Edits camera and saved content notes. This small change can help you capture ideas before they slip away. You can also choose secondary colors for text and captions, which offers more design flexibility.
Another helpful addition is the option to include publicly posted Instagram Reels in your projects. This allows easier reaction videos and remix style content, which remain popular across social platforms.
The app continues to grow as a reliable tool for short form video creators. Since it’s free, it offers an easy way to experiment with new formats and build more engaging content.
