ESCO and NADRA Join Hands for Biometric Verification of Power Connections

ESCO and NADRA Join Hands for Biometric Verification of Power Connections

In a big step toward transparency and consumer protection, the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) and NADRA Technologies Limited have signed an agreement to launch mandatory biometric verification for all new electricity connections and reconnections. The agreement, signed on Saturday, aims to stop fake or unauthorized connections and make the
system more reliable. Through NADRA’s secure national database, every consumer will now be verified before getting power. This initiative will boost trust, ensure transparency, and make electricity billing more accurate.

Building a Transparent System

IESCO officials said the new verification process will make power connections safer and faster. Biometric checks will confirm applicants’ identities in real time. This will help reduce fraud and illegal connections that cause major losses to the power sector. The company believes digital verification will also improve coordination between field staff and customers. Moreover, IESCO plans to integrate this system across all its offices to create a smooth and paperless workflow. This digital shift is part of a larger plan to modernize the electricity distribution system.

Empowering Consumers Through Digital Reform

NADRA Technologies highlighted that the project supports Pakistan’s vision for digital governance. It ensures that consumers’ identities remain protected and verified under strict security standards. With biometric verification, users will have easier, faster, and safer access to electricity services. This partnership will encourage accountability and help prevent misuse of public resources. Both IESCO and NADRA see this as a long-term step toward smart energy management and improved customer satisfaction.
