FIA Busts Alleged Illegal Visa Network in Islamabad

The FIA has reportedly busted an alleged illegal visa facilitation network in Islamabad. The case allegedly involves a Chinese national and officials from Immigration and Passports and Islamabad Police.

FIA Arrests Three Suspects

The FIA Anti-Corruption Unit reportedly arrested Chinese national Xiao Jingping, also known as Jack or Jason. Officials also detained Immigration and Passports Department officer Junaid Mughal and Special Protection Unit officer Zafar Iqbal.Investigators reportedly recovered Rs20 million in cash and other documents. The agency also registered a case against the three suspects.

According to the FIA, the network allegedly helped foreign nationals bypass immigration restrictions. The suspects reportedly assisted people accused of visa violations and illegal activities.The investigation began during a separate FIA inquiry into foreign nationals arrested in Islamabad. During questioning, some detainees allegedly revealed details about an organised network.

Investigators found alleged links involving FIA Immigration, Immigration and Passports, and Islamabad Police officials. However, authorities have yet to establish the full scope of the network.Xiao allegedly made further disclosures on August 15. He reportedly claimed that Mughal, Zafar and others helped foreign passengers clear immigration checks.

Investigation Expands After Raids

The suspects allegedly charged Rs80,000 for each passenger. Investigators also recovered WhatsApp messages and payment records from a suspect’s phone.

Following the disclosures, FIA Islamabad Zone Director Shahzad Nadeem Bukhari formed a special raiding team. The team included Anti-Corruption Cell Assistant Director Umar Arsalan and Inspector Raja Faheem.The team later raided Mughal’s residence in Ghori Town. Officials reportedly recovered further messages and other evidence from his mobile phone.

Mughal allegedly admitted receiving payments from Xiao. He reportedly helped secure the release of foreign nationals arrested at Sparco Plaza in Gulberg Greens.The investigation also includes serious allegations involving NCCIA officials. Investigators suspect some officials received monthly payments to protect foreign nationals involved in illegal activities.The FIA continues to investigate the alleged network and its wider links. Authorities will determine the suspects’ roles as the investigation progresses.
