Finance Minister Briefs Saudi Counterpart on PIA Privatisation During US Visit

Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb met his Saudi counterpart during his ongoing visit to the United States. The meeting took place on the third day of his trip, the finance ministry confirmed on Thursday.
During the meeting, Aurangzeb briefed the Saudi finance minister about Pakistan’s progress on major economic reforms. He shared details about the ongoing privatisation process of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and several key airports.

Focus on Investment and Reform

The finance minister highlighted that Pakistan is actively working to attract foreign investment. He explained that the government is improving transparency and efficiency in the privatisation process. According to Aurangzeb, these efforts aim to strengthen Pakistan’s economy and build investor confidence.
The Saudi counterpart appreciated Pakistan’s reform measures. He expressed interest in exploring future investment opportunities, particularly in the aviation and infrastructure sectors. Both ministers agreed that strong economic ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are vital for regional growth. Strengthening Global Partnerships
Aurangzeb also discussed Pakistan’s broader engagement with international partners during his US visit. He stressed that cooperation with friendly nations, like Saudi Arabia, plays a key role in achieving economic stability.
The finance ministry said both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral relations. They agreed to continue dialogue and identify potential areas for mutual collaboration.
As a result, officials expect follow-up meetings in the coming months to explore specific investment proposals.
