Germany Threat Report Rise: Extremism Alarm

Germany Threat Report Rise: Extremism Alarm

Germany’s domestic threat report reveals troubling statistics. The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) published its annual findings. Right-wing extremists increased by over 8,000 compared to last year. Therefore, authorities express serious concern about this trend.
Sinan Selen leads the BfV agency. He warned that German democracy faces “practically permanent attack” from both inside and outside. Intelligence activities against Germany originate primarily from Russia, China and Iran. These external threats compound internal political dangers.

Sharp Rise in Extremism

The number of right-wing extremists now stands significantly higher. Of these identified individuals, 5,600 are estimated to have a propensity for violence. This represents a dangerous increase in potential offenders. The Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) party largely drives this growth. Its membership expanded to 70,000 in 2025.
Extreme left-wing violence is also rising. The agency calls this an alarm-call for Germany’s rule of law. Both political extremes now threaten social stability. Consequently, security forces must remain vigilant.

AfD and Violence Warnings

The AfD plans its party conference in Erfurt this weekend. Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt warned of potential violence during protests against the event. He emphasised that protests must always remain non-violent. This statement reflects growing tensions around far-right gatherings.
Legal authorities monitor all developments closely. They prepare for possible confrontations between opposing groups. Police deployments will increase significantly around the conference venue. Public safety remains the absolute priority.
Germany faces significant challenges ahead. Extremist movements gain momentum across the political spectrum. Democratic institutions must defend themselves effectively. The reported increase in threats demands decisive action.
