Imran Khan Hospital Transfer: PTI Resubmits Contempt Petition

The PTI has submitted a contempt petition over the Imran Khan hospital transfer after addressing objections from the Supreme Court registrar. The petition challenges the alleged non-compliance with the court’s August 18 order.The Supreme Court had directed authorities to shift Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital. It had also ordered weekly meetings between him and his family.

PTI Seeks Early Supreme Court Hearing

Earlier, the registrar’s office returned the petition after raising objections. Later, officials assigned petition number 8/2026 to the case.PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan said the party had addressed the objections. He also said the PTI wanted the same bench to hear the matter.Gohar spoke to reporters outside the Supreme Court. He said the party wanted an early hearing because of concerns about Imran’s health.

Meanwhile, Imran’s sister, Dr Uzma Khan, filed a separate application. She requested an early hearing of the contempt petition.Her application claimed that Imran’s health was deteriorating. She also alleged that the government had failed to follow the court’s order.Dr Uzma argued that authorities should have sought clarification from the court. She said officials could not change the order without judicial approval.

Government Challenges Hospital Transfer Order

The federal government has also filed a review petition against the August 18 order. It described the directive as discriminatory and sought legal relief.Authorities took Imran to PIMS on August 21 for a medical examination. Doctors later declared him medically fit before officials returned him to Adiala Jail.Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said security concerns caused the change in plans. PTI, however, maintains that authorities should have followed the Supreme Court’s directive.

Gohar also called for changes to Imran’s medical board. He wants Dr Uzma and personal physician Dr Faisal Sultan included.He said PTI wants all recommended medical tests completed. Gohar also questioned the detention of Dr Faisal at Shifa International Hospital.

The Supreme Court previously declined requests for an early hearing. However, PTI continues to seek an urgent hearing this week.The party says further delays could cause serious harm. It wants the Supreme Court to ensure implementation of its earlier order.
