Doctors examine Imran Khan at PIMS
A team of specialist doctors examined Imran during the visit. The team included an ophthalmologist, cardiologist and physician. Tarar said the doctors found him medically fit after the examination.Imran’s sister, Dr Uzma Khan, also remained present during the process. Tarar said officials provided all necessary medical facilities. He added that authorities would continue treatment whenever Imran needed it.
Dr Uzma later said Imran appeared healthy during their meeting. She said doctors checked his blood pressure and recorded 120/80. She also said doctors examined his eye and administered an injection. However, Dr Uzma claimed Imran complained about harsh treatment in detention. She said he described his situation as severe injustice and torture. Government officials have not accepted those allegations.
Supreme Court order sparks dispute
The Supreme Court had ordered Imran’s transfer to Shifa for treatment. The court also ordered weekly meetings between Imran and his family. The government later challenged that decision through a review petition. Officials cited security concerns around the private hospital.PTI leaders criticised the decision to take Imran to PIMS. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi announced plans for legal action. He said the party would consider filing a contempt petition.
Meanwhile, officials said police secured Shifa during the night. Heavy security blocked several roads around the hospital. Authorities also placed barriers near the facility.Imran returned to Adiala jail at about 5am on Friday. His personal physician, Dr Faisal Sultan, said he waited at Shifa for several hours. He later returned to Adiala after officials told him Imran might not arrive. The dispute now centres on whether authorities fully followed the Supreme Court’s order. Both sides have urged the courts to address the issue.
