Israeli Air Strikes Kill 12 on Cars South of Beirut
At least 12 people have been killed in Israeli air strikes.
Deadly Strikes on Vehicles
The attacks hit seven separate cars south of Beirut. Lebanon’s health ministry confirmed the toll. The war between Israel and Hezbollah continues despite a ceasefire.Eight people, including two children, died in the first wave. Drones targeted three vehicles on the coastal highway. The strikes hit the Barja, Jiyeh, and Saadiyat areas. These are about 20km from the capital.
More Deaths Further South
The others were killed in strikes on four cars further south. The attacks hit the city of Sidon and the towns of Maaliyeh, Chaaitiyeh, and Naqoura. The Israeli military has not yet commented.However, the military said it struck Hezbollah weapons storage and rocket launchers in southern Lebanon on Wednesday. It also told residents of nine towns to evacuate. Israel warned it would act forcefully against Hezbollah.
Hezbollah Fires Back
Hezbollah said its fighters attacked Israeli troops with drones, rockets, and explosives. The UN peacekeeping force (Unifil) said it was “increasingly concerned” about activities near its positions. It noted “the increased use of drones” and explosions near its bases.
