Istanbul F1 Grand Prix Returns from 2027 in Five-Year Deal

The Istanbul F1 return is now official. Türkiye will host Formula One races again from 2027 for at least five years. Officials shared the news during a major event in Istanbul.

Istanbul F1 Return Confirmed

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stood alongside F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali. FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem also attended. Together, they marked a big moment for motorsport fans. To celebrate, a Formula One car drove through Istanbul streets. It started at Galataport and ended at Dolmabahce. As a result, excitement quickly spread across the city. Erdogan called the deal a win for the country’s passion for sport. He added that the races will boost Istanbul’s global image. In addition, the event will highlight the nation as a safe and welcoming destination.

It Matters for Fans

Istanbul Park sits on the Asian side of the city. Drivers and fans love the track for its challenging layout. However, it last hosted a race in 2021. The circuit first joined Formula One in 2005. It held races until 2011, then returned briefly in 2020 and 2021. For example, Lewis Hamilton secured his seventh title there in 2020. Türkiye worked for years to bring the race back. However, costs slowed progress after 2022. Other countries, like Qatar, invested heavily in the sport. Now, the Istanbul F1 return shows strong commitment. Therefore, fans can expect thrilling races ahead. The deal also strengthens Türkiye’s place in global motorsport.
