Karachi University Awards Rs2.5 Million in Scholarships to 55 Students

The University of Karachi has awarded scholarships worth over Rs2.5 million to 55 deserving students from various departments. The scholarships were funded by the University of Karachi Houston Alumni Association (UKAHA).
At a ceremony held at the Karachi University Business School (KUBS), Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi distributed the scholarship cheques among 45 students from 20 departments and 10 students from KUBS.

Supporting Students in Challenging Times

Professor Iraqi highlighted that scholarships bring vital relief to students whose families struggle with rising inflation and economic hardship. He said many parents find it difficult to afford quality education for their children. He thanked the UKAHA for their generosity, calling the initiative a valuable investment in Pakistan’s youth.
Speaking to students, Professor Iraqi said, “Today, someone else is supporting your education. Tomorrow, we hope you will help others achieve their dreams.”

Strengthening Global Alumni Bonds

UKAHA representative Feroz Iqbal explained that the program aims to help talented but financially challenged students continue their studies. The first installment of the scholarship was distributed during the event.
He added that UKAHA has pledged Rs10 million to support 10 KUBS students through a four-year BBA program. The initiative also strengthens educational and alumni ties between Pakistan and the United States.
Professor Dr. Zaeema Israr Mohiuddin, Dean of Management Sciences, and Professor Dr. Zi Asma Hanif Khan shared that 300 applications were reviewed, and 55 students were selected. They said the effort brings hope to students determined to pursue higher education despite financial obstacles.
