Kazakhstan and Thailand Aim to Expand Tourism Cooperation
Kazakhstan and Thailand aim to expand their tourism cooperation significantly. Officials from both countries held productive talks recently. Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev represented Kazakhstan in these discussions. Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow participated actively.
Tourist Numbers and Visa Facilitation
More than 200,000 Kazakh tourists visit Thailand annually. This number continues to grow steadily each year. The 30-day visa-free regime has boosted these arrivals significantly. Additional direct flights and improved transport links will accelerate this growth. Thailand hopes to encourage more Thai citizens to visit Kazakhstan.
Both countries are confident about future visa facilitation measures. These measures will strengthen people-to-people ties between the nations. Travel between the two countries will become easier and more frequent.
Knowledge Exchange and Future Plans
Kazakhstan is interested in adopting Thailand’s tourism expertise. The country wants to learn from Thailand’s successful hospitality sector. Training industry professionals represents a key area of interest.
The two sides discussed Thai universities opening representative offices in Kazakhstan. They also explored expanding study opportunities for Kazakh students in Thailand. Both parties described this as a promising area of cooperation.
Minister Kosherbayev praised Thailand’s well-developed tourism and hospitality sector. He emphasized that Kazakhstan should learn from countries with advanced expertise. Bilateral trade turnover reached US$255 million last year. This economic relationship continues to grow steadily.
