KSE-100 Decline on Iran Tensions as Market Drops 1,250 Points

Pakistan’s stock market faced strong selling pressure on Wednesday. The KSE-100 decline Iran tensions trend dominated early trade. Investors reacted quickly to fresh US-Iran strikes and rising oil prices. As a result, the benchmark index fell by 1,250.34 points by 1:14pm. The drop reflected growing concerns about supply disruptions. Moreover, uncertainty in the Middle East added pressure on investor sentiment.

Early Losses and Market Movement

The market opened sharply lower and extended losses in early hours. Initially, the index dropped 1,663.16 points by 9:34am. It later showed slight recovery but remained under pressure. During the session, the index hit a high of 175,841.83. However, it also touched a low of 174,701.13. This movement showed continued volatility in trading activity. Selling remained broad-based across key sectors. For example, automobiles and cement stocks saw noticeable declines. In addition, commercial banks and exploration companies faced strong selling. Power generation and oil marketing companies also struggled. This trend showed how rising oil prices affect multiple industries. Therefore, investors stayed cautious throughout the session.

Oil Prices and Investor Sentiment

Oil prices increased sharply after the US and Iran exchanged strikes. Consequently, fears of supply disruption grew stronger. This situation reduced hopes for quick regional stability. Meanwhile, trading activity stayed active despite the downturn. Around 153.68 million shares changed hands during the session. The total traded value reached Rs10.82 billion. However, investors remained concerned about Pakistan’s economy. Higher oil prices may increase import costs and inflation. As a result, companies could face rising operational expenses.
