Leadership Training Workshop Strengthens University Governance in Balochistan

A new leadership training workshop by the National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE) is giving university leaders in Balochistan a valuable boost. The three-day programme, organised by HEC, runs from 10–12 December 2025. It focuses on building stronger academic and administrative leadership across public universities.

Strengthening Vision and Strategic Capacity

The workshop helps Vice Chancellors and Pro-Vice Chancellors improve their decision-making skills. It also guides them in planning for financial sustainability, institutional growth and effective governance. As a result, participants learn how to design vision-based strategies that align with long-term goals.
In addition, the workshop highlights the value of data-driven planning and transparent systems. These elements support better accountability and improved collaboration with key stakeholders.
Minister of State Wajiha Qamar attended the opening ceremony as chief guest. She shared her deep connection with Balochistan and encouraged leaders to highlight the province’s positive and resilient image. She also stressed that strong policies and timely reforms can help universities become more self-reliant.
Chairman HEC Nadeem Mahbub appreciated the participants’ commitment. He noted that universities play a central role in developing skills, promoting knowledge and guiding social progress. He also emphasised the potential of Balochistan’s youth and the importance of nurturing their growth.

Building Institutional Excellence

Managing Director NAHE Dr Noor Amna Malik welcomed the attendees and explained the structure of the sessions. She expressed hope that the experience would encourage meaningful dialogue and collaborative problem-solving.
The programme offers sessions on financial governance, research innovation, quality assurance, human resource development and digital transformation. Senior experts from HEC, the State Bank, British Council Pakistan and the US Embassy serve as resource persons.
This initiative reflects HEC’s ongoing effort to strengthen leadership capacity and support the long-term development of higher education in Balochistan.
