Marvel Rivals Brings First Ever PvE Mode “Marvel Zombies” This October
NetEase has unveiled Marvel Zombies, the first Marvel PvE mode coming to Marvel Rivals on October 23, 2025. The new mode adds co-op survival gameplay to the popular hero shooter, allowing players to face hordes of undead enemies in teams of five.
The reveal took place during the Thailand Game Show, drawing massive attention from both fans and competitive players.
The update represents a major shift for Marvel Rivals, which until now focused exclusively on PvP battles. Developers described Marvel Zombies as “a wave-based survival challenge” blending hero abilities with strategic teamwork. Players must defend Midtown from zombie versions of iconic Marvel characters, such as Scarlet Witch, Namor, and even zombified Hydra soldiers.
Heroes, Perks, and Survival
The playable roster includes Blade, Thor, Magik, Punisher, and Jeff the Landshark—each offering unique powers tailored for survival. Blade uses his vampire-hunter agility, Thor can summon lightning endlessly in his Awakened state, while Magik channels demonic energy through her Darkchylde transformation. The mode rewards coordination and timing, as players must juggle cooldowns and protect teammates against overwhelming waves.
NetEase confirmed that Marvel Zombies will feature leaderboard rankings, cosmetic rewards, and difficulty modifiers. The studio also hinted that additional PvE events are planned for future seasons if community feedback is strong. Fans praised the move, noting that PvE modes make the game more accessible to casual players while offering a refreshing change of pace for veterans.
With the Marvel Rivals Ignite Grand Finals set for October 27 in Atlanta, the PvE debut couldn’t come at a better time. It diversifies the experience and expands the game’s audience. In a market dominated by competitive shooters, NetEase’s decision to blend story-driven survival gameplay into a Marvel title could redefine expectations for hero-based games.
