Meta Plans $600 Billion U.S. Investment to Boost AI and Data Centers

Meta Plans $600 Billion U.S. Investment to Boost AI and Data Centers

Meta is going all in on its AI ambitions. The company plans to invest $600 billion in the U.S. by 2028, focusing on advanced AI and VR infrastructure.
This massive Meta US investment aims to strengthen America’s role in global technology. In a statement, Meta said it’s working to create personal superintelligence for everyone. The company believes new data centers are key to achieving that goal.

Strengthening AI Infrastructure and U.S. Jobs

To put things in perspective, $600 billion over three years means $200 billion each year. That’s more than the GDP of 136 countries. It’s a huge bet on the future of AI.
Meta’s investment will fund state of the art AI data centers, new connectivity projects, and advanced cloud networks. The company has already spent billions on similar efforts, including undersea cables and regional expansions.
However, critics question whether such spending will pay off. Some experts warn that the true value of AI remains uncertain. Still, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg appears confident that innovation will drive long term growth.
In addition, Meta says its projects are already creating jobs across the U.S. Since 2010, its data centers have supported 30,000 skilled trade roles and 5,000 operations jobs. The new expansion is expected to boost steel, electrical, and fiber industries even further.
As a result, Meta hopes to strengthen ties with U.S. lawmakers and highlight its economic impact while leading the next wave of AI innovation.
