Metroid Ravenous Leak Hints at New Nintendo Switch 2 Game

A brand-new Metroid game may already be on the way for Nintendo Switch 2. A title called Metroid Ravenous has reportedly appeared in a Brazilian age classification database, suggesting Nintendo could soon unveil the next chapter in the long-running sci-fi franchise. Although Nintendo has not officially announced the game, the leaked rating has sparked excitement among fans eager for a follow-up to 2021’s critically acclaimed Metroid Dread. If the listing proves accurate, Metroid Ravenous could become one of the next major first-party titles for the Nintendo Switch 2.

Metroid Ravenous Appears in Brazilian Rating Leak

The leak first appeared in Brazil’s Ministry of Justice and Public Security classification database before reliable gaming insiders shared it online. According to the listing, Metroid Ravenous carries a 12+ age rating and lists a 2026 production year. Reports also suggest Nintendo plans to release the game on Nintendo Switch 2, although the company has not confirmed the platform or acknowledged the title.
Meanwhile, the age rating falls between Metroid Dread’s lower classification and Metroid Prime 4’s higher rating, suggesting the new game could balance action, exploration, and darker themes. Because official government ratings often appear shortly before release, many fans believe Nintendo could announce the game sooner rather than later.

Could Metroid Ravenous Be the Sequel to Metroid Dread?

The title Metroid Ravenous has convinced many fans that it could serve as the direct successor to Metroid Dread, one of the franchise’s best-selling entries. However, questions remain about the team developing the project. MercurySteam, which co-developed Metroid Dread, announced layoffs earlier this year. As a result, it remains unclear whether the studio is still involved or if Nintendo has handed development to another internal or external team. Nintendo recently showcased its upcoming lineup during the June 2026 Nintendo Direct, leaving little room for another major announcement.
Even so, if the leaked rating proves legitimate, Nintendo could reveal Metroid Ravenous during a future Nintendo Direct or through a standalone trailer. Until then, fans should treat the leak with caution. Nevertheless, the appearance of Metroid Ravenous in an official ratings database gives longtime fans fresh hope that Samus Aran’s next adventure could arrive sooner than expected.
