Murree Hills Undergo Tourism Overhaul: First Tree House in Patriata & Major Makeover Plans

Murree’s tourism landscape is set for a transformation with the inauguration of Punjab’s first treehouse at Patriata, alongside a large-scale makeover plan backed by government funding. The treehouse at the TDCP Resort in Patriata was formally opened under directions from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. TDCP Managing Director Asim Raza, together with regional officials, launched the project, saying it is “eco-friendly accommodation…first of its kind, offering visitors a unique experience of staying amid natural forests and tree canopies.” The facility blends modern amenities with natural beauty, giving Murree tourism a fresh identity.
This development aligns with broader efforts in the hills region, where the provincial government has allocated Rs150 million to upgrade infrastructure, facilities, and services across Murree. These refurbishment efforts are expected to be completed within approximately three months. Officials say the makeover aims to fix longstanding visitor concerns about road quality, sanitation, signage, availability of clean restrooms and waste management, while preserving Murree’s natural charm and protecting its fragile ecosystems.
The TDCP chief emphasized that the treehouse will serve as a milestone in promoting Murree as a “modern and sustainable tourist destination,” attracting both domestic and international visitors. He said the initiative reflects the commitment of the Chief Minister and the Minister for Tourism to transform Murree into a world-class tourism hub.
Residents and tourists alike hope that the combined effect of eco-lodging, better facilities, and aesthetic improvements will lead to a more comfortable, memorable hill-station experience. The renovations aim not only to elevate visitor satisfaction but also to boost local economic activity. With scenic views, lush forests, and cooler climates already Murree’s strong points, the new upgrades and the tree-house novelty are being welcomed as steps toward reinforcing the region’s appeal, reducing overcrowding, easing travel hassles, and improving environmental sustainability.
