NAB Property Update: Chairman Announces Real Estate Reforms Within Two Months
Chairman of the National Accountability Bureau, Nazir Ahmed, shared a NAB property update on Wednesday. He announced major real estate reforms within two months. The plan aims to improve regulation and transparency in the sector.
Real Estate Overhaul Plan
Ahmed said the new reforms will go to the federal cabinet for approval. He added that authorities will abolish the existing file system in real estate. Developers will take full responsibility for property transactions.
Authorities also aim to streamline oversight in the sector. The reforms focus on reducing delays and improving accountability. Officials believe this will strengthen investor confidence.
Accountability and Global Reports
Ahmed confirmed that cases involving parliament members remain under investigation. However, the bureau no longer issues press releases on such matters. Some cases have moved to the Federal Investigation Agency and provincial anti-corruption bodies.
He criticised an IMF governance report. He called its findings on corruption baseless. He also said the IMF does not issue clean slates to countries.
Ahmed questioned Transparency International as well. He raised concerns about funding sources and survey methods. He claimed NAB recoveries over three months were record breaking globally.
Wealth recovered by NAB goes directly to the federal consolidated fund. The bureau does not retain any recovered money. Officials say this ensures public benefit and financial transparency.
Officials said the bureau will continue focusing on fair investigations. They stressed equal treatment for suspects and investigators. The leadership said past practices will not guide current decisions.
Reforms are expected to move forward within two months. The federal cabinet will review proposals before approval. Authorities believe the changes will modernize property regulation and reduce corruption risks, with implementation beginning very soon.
