New Lemnos to Canakkale Ferry Route Expands Greece-Türkiye Travel

A new ferry route will connect Lemnos to Canakkale. The service begins on June 13. Therefore, travel between Greece and Türkiye expands significantly.
The journey takes about 2.5 hours. Tickets are already available on Turkish reservation platforms. The price is set at €75 per passenger.

A Significant Development for the Northern Aegean

Lemnos Sub-Regional Governor Apostolos Koutsogiannis announced the news. He confirmed that Lemnos has been added to the company’s booking engine. Consequently, the island becomes more accessible to Turkish visitors.
Lemnos is considered a frontier island in the northern Aegean. The new route strengthens regional travel links across the Aegean Sea. Therefore, more tourists can explore this less-visited Greek island.

Turkish Visitors Drive Island Demand

The ferry announcement follows Greece’s fast-track visa scheme extension. Turkey’s Transport and Infrastructure Ministry released new figures. About 1.1 million passengers traveled from Türkiye to the Greek islands last year.
Popular destinations include Kos, Chios, Rhodes, and Lesvos. The fast-track visa program has been extended for another year. Consequently, demand from Turkish nationals remains strong.
The scheme was developed with the European Commission. It first launched in April 2024. It now covers 12 Aegean islands.

What This Means for Travelers

The new Lemnos-Cannakkale route adds another island to the network. Turkish visitors can now easily reach Lemnos. Greek visitors can also explore Canakkale and the surrounding region.
The 2.5-hour crossing is shorter than many other ferry routes. Therefore, day trips become possible. Travelers can enjoy both Greek and Turkish cultures in one journey.
In conclusion, this new maritime link is a win for both countries. Tourism will benefit from increased passenger movement. Regional cooperation across the Aegean continues to grow.
