Old School RuneScape’s New Sailing Skill OSRS is Officially Live
A game around for over a decade rarely adds an entirely new skill. Old School RuneScape just did exactly that recently. OSRS has been preparing one of the biggest updates in its history. This massive update officially lands today successfully. Sailing Skill OSRS is the MMORPG’s first-ever new skill. It was a long time coming for the community.
Exploration and Aquatic Threats
Players now head out from Port Sarim immediately. They can finally build a ship and see what lies past the map edges. You start your journey in Pandemonium quickly. Your first quest teaches you the basic sailing mechanics. From there, a massive ocean opens up for exploration. New ports and new NPCs await every player. The skill fully embraces the exploration sandbox concept.
The seas are not friendly, however. Sharks, orcas, frost dragons, and gryphons are now routine threats. These creatures form a greatest hits compilation of things players must avoid. Brand-new enemy types also patrol the waters. Jagex is keeping those new enemy types secret for now. Players must panic together when they finally appear.
Ship Progression and Buccaneer Life
Every level unlocks valuable ship upgrades. These upgrades range from bigger cargo holds to sturdier hulls. Players also gain access to nastier cannons for defense. Beyond the ship itself, new activities await every player. These activities include shipbuilding and gathering new trees. They also include mining ores and tending coral nurseries.
The skill offers various ways to gain experience efficiently. Players can complete spyglass tasks and mermaid riddles. They can also salvage goods from shipwrecks. Even light piracy offers XP with a criminal flourish. You unlock skills and become a successful buccaneer quickly. Sailing is available in Old School RuneScape right now.
