Pakistan and Switzerland Discuss Strengthening Cooperation in Education and Innovation

SAMARKAND, Uzbekistan State Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Wajiha Qamar met with Ignazio Cassis, Foreign Minister of Switzerland, on the sidelines of the 43rd Session of the UNESCO General Conference.
The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in education, vocational training, research, and sustainable development, according to an official press release. Both sides stressed the importance of knowledge exchange, innovation, and institutional linkages to help youth develop future-ready skills.

Pakistan’s Education Reforms and Digital Priorities

Wajiha Qamar outlined Pakistan’s ongoing education reforms aimed at inclusive learning, digital literacy, and skill development. She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving access and quality across all levels of education.
She also appreciated Switzerland’s global support for education and sustainable development initiatives, expressing Pakistan’s interest in expanding collaboration in technical and higher education sectors.

Switzerland’s Support for Education and SDGs

Minister Ignazio Cassis praised Pakistan’s active engagement at UNESCO and recognized its progress in promoting equitable education and capacity-building efforts. He reiterated Switzerland’s intent to strengthen bilateral ties through innovation-driven education partnerships.
Both ministers agreed to deepen cooperation under UNESCO’s framework and reaffirmed their shared commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) , particularly SDG-4: Quality Education.
