Pakistan Anti Polio Drive 2026 Expands Nationwide Vaccination Campaign
Pakistan has launched the second Pakistan anti polio drive of 2026. Health officials confirmed the campaign has started nationwide. Teams are working to vaccinate millions of children quickly.
Earlier, the first campaign ended successfully in February. It reached over 44.3 million children across the country. Therefore, authorities now aim to build on that progress.
Nationwide Targets and Coverage
This campaign will continue until 19 April. It covers 169 districts in Pakistan and 382 districts in Afghanistan. As a result, cross-border coordination remains a key focus.
Officials plan to vaccinate more than 45.3 million children. Over 400,000 workers are taking part in this effort. In addition, mobile teams are reaching remote communities.
Punjab leads with a target of 23.4 million children. Sindh aims to vaccinate 10.5 million children. Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa targets 7.3 million, and Balochistan plans for 2.6 million.
Regional Efforts and Special Plans
In Azad Kashmir, 710,000 children will receive vaccines. Gilgit-Baltistan has set a target of 280,000 children. Similarly, Islamabad plans to vaccinate around 450,000 children.
A five-day campaign will run in sensitive areas. It will include two additional catch-up days. Moreover, special mobile teams will support these efforts.
Children will also receive Vitamin A drops. These drops help boost immunity and overall health. Therefore, health teams encourage full participation.
Challenges and Continued Progress
Authorities have created a plan for border areas. Vaccination will take place at all crossing points. This step helps reduce virus transmission between regions.
Polio cases have declined due to strong cooperation. However, challenges still exist in some areas. As a result, awareness campaigns continue to build trust.
Officials urge parents to support the Pakistan anti polio drive. Every child needs protection from this disease.
