Pakistan Approves Extended Haj Policy with Digital Upgrades
The federal cabinet has approved a comprehensive Haj Policy for 2027-2030. The policy aims to provide better facilities to pilgrims. It also improves operational efficiency across the pilgrimage process. This is Pakistan’s first four-year plan for Haj management. The cabinet commended Religious Affairs Minister Sardar Muhammad Yousaf for excellent arrangements.
Key Features of the New Policy
Pilgrims no longer need to register annually for Haj. They can register at any time until 2030 instead. This enables uninterrupted registration according to personal preference. A priority waiting list will be prepared for future pilgrims. A Shariah-compliant Haj savings scheme will also be introduced. People can save in advance for their future pilgrimage.
The entire Haj management system is being digitized. Digital payment mechanisms will streamline financial transactions. A digital complaints management system improves accountability. Digital monitoring mechanisms ensure transparency.
Operational Improvements and Quotas
Separate quotas have been allocated for government and private schemes. Long and short-duration Haj packages are available. Mandatory training will be provided for all pilgrims. Takaful (Islamic insurance) and emergency response services are included.
Haj assistants will be appointed through a transparent, merit-based process. Third-party validation of government and private operators will be ensured. The policy allows SOP amendments to align with Saudi regulations.
