Pakistan Remittance Growth Hits $3.5bn in April Despite Monthly Dip
Pakistan remittance growth stayed strong in April 2026. Overseas Pakistanis sent $3.53 billion during the month. This shows an 11.4% increase compared to last year.
However, inflows dropped on a monthly basis. The country received $3.83 billion in March. As a result, April saw a 7.6% decline.
Monthly Dip but Overall Trend Positive
The monthly fall does not signal weakness. In fact, analysts link it to seasonal trends. For example, higher transfers often occur before Eid. Therefore, the drop in April looks temporary. The yearly growth trend remains steady and encouraging. In addition, remittances continue to support Pakistan’s economy. They help improve foreign reserves and ease external pressure.
Middle East Leads Remittance Inflows
The Middle East remained the largest source of funds. Pakistanis in Saudi Arabia sent $841.7 million. Meanwhile, the UAE contributed $734.7 million. Other GCC countries added $325 million. As a result, total inflows from the region reached nearly $1.9 billion. This strong contribution highlights the role of overseas workers. Their support remains vital for economic stability.
Ten Month Performance and Future Outlook
Cumulative remittances reached $33.86 billion in the first ten months of FY26. This marks an 8% increase compared to last year. The government aims to hit $41 billion by the end of FY26. In comparison, Pakistan received $38 billion in FY25. Looking ahead, steady inflows could help meet this target. However, global conditions and job markets will play a key role.
