Pakistan Seafood Exports Record FY2025-26 Hits $568 Million

Pakistan seafood exports record reached a new high in FY2025-26. The country earned $568 million from fish products. This strong result shows steady growth in the fisheries sector. Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry shared this update. He highlighted the government’s focus on the blue economy. In addition, he stressed better quality and global standards.

Strong Export Performance

Frozen fish led the export list this year. It generated over $105 million in revenue. However, frozen squid and cuttlefish followed closely with strong earnings. Fish meal also performed well and added significant value. Moreover, shrimp exports crossed $62 million. Crabs, sardines, and mackerels also showed steady demand. Other products like flatfish and octopus contributed to growth. In addition, processed fish items gained attention in global markets. This variety helped boost total export earnings.

Key Global Markets

Pakistan exported seafood to many countries worldwide. China remained the largest buyer of fish products. Meanwhile, Thailand and Malaysia also showed strong demand. The United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia stayed important markets. In addition, Japan and South Korea imported premium seafood items. The United States and Indonesia also contributed to export growth.

Industry Shows Resilience

Despite regional trade challenges, the sector stayed strong. Issues in Gulf logistics affected shipping routes. However, exporters managed to maintain steady supply chains. This resilience reflects the hard work of industry players. Regulatory bodies also ensured compliance with global standards. As a result, Pakistan gained trust in international markets.

Government Support and Future Plans

The minister praised the Marine Fisheries Department for its role. He appreciated efforts to improve quality checks and market access. These steps helped maintain export standards. The government plans to expand export destinations further. It also aims to promote value added seafood products. Therefore, the sector may see even higher growth soon.
A special ceremony will honor top exporters. The Prime Minister will present awards to leading contributors. This initiative will encourage more progress in the industry. Overall, Pakistan seafood exports record highlights strong potential. With continued support, the fisheries sector can grow further. As a result, it can strengthen the national economy and global presence.
