Pakistan suffer 1-0 defeat to Cambodia in AFC U-23 Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers

Pakistan’s U-23 side fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat against Cambodia in their second match of the AFC U-23 Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers, leaving their hopes of advancing to the next stage hanging in the balance.

The game, played in a tense atmosphere, saw both sides struggling to create clear-cut chances in the opening stages. Pakistan tried to impose themselves with quick passing in midfield, while Cambodia relied on counter-attacks and long balls into the final third. Despite flashes of promise from Pakistan’s young forwards, it was Cambodia who made the breakthrough. A well-taken strike midway through the second half proved decisive, as Pakistan’s defense was caught out of position.

Chasing the game, Pakistan pressed hard in the final 20 minutes and created a few opportunities, but poor finishing and resolute Cambodian defending denied them an equalizer. The result means Pakistan remain winless in the group, and their margin for error is now slim.

The loss has shifted the focus firmly onto their upcoming clash with Oman. A victory is essential if Pakistan are to keep alive their qualification dream for the 2026 U-23 Asian Cup. With Oman considered one of the stronger sides in the group, the challenge will be significant, but Pakistan’s players and coaching staff remain determined to bounce back.

Fans will be hoping the team can learn from their missed chances against Cambodia and deliver a stronger, more clinical performance in the decisive encounter.
