Pakistan Women Sweep Zimbabwe with Record ODI Win

Pakistan chased 223 runs with ease. Gull Feroza and Sadaf Shamas built a stunning 220-run opening stand. As a result, the team reached the target in only 31.5 overs. Gull remained unbeaten on 106 from 92 balls. She smashed 16 fours and scored her century in just 83 balls. Therefore, she broke her own record for the fastest ODI hundred by a Pakistan women’s batter. In addition, she became only the second Pakistan player to score back-to-back ODI centuries. Sadaf also impressed with 90 runs from 98 deliveries. Although she missed another century, she created history with five straight 50-plus ODI scores. She finished as the series’ leading scorer with 289 runs and won Player of the Series.

Record-Breaking Partnership Shines

The opening pair continued their dream form throughout the series. Their combined 571 runs became the highest by any opening duo in a bilateral women’s ODI series. Moreover, Pakistan recorded their best-ever Women’s ODI powerplay score with 89 runs in the first 10 overs. Earlier, Zimbabwe Women posted 222 for nine after choosing to bat first. Beloved Biza scored 73, while Kelis Ndhlovu added 51. However, Pakistan’s bowlers kept the visitors under pressure. Tasmia Rubab led the attack with three wickets. Meanwhile, Ayesha Zafar claimed two wickets in an economical spell. Pakistan will now face Zimbabwe in a three-match T20I series starting on 12 May at the same venue.
