Pakistan women’s cricket team starts World Cup training sessions in Sri Lanka

The Pakistan women’s cricket team has officially kicked off its training camp in Colombo, Sri Lanka, as preparations intensify for the upcoming Women’s World Cup. The squad, led by skipper Nida Dar, will undergo a series of intensive sessions designed to fine-tune their skills and build momentum ahead of the prestigious tournament.
Colombo’s conditions, known for their humid climate and spin-friendly pitches, offer the team an ideal environment to adapt to challenges they are likely to face in the World Cup. Coaches and support staff have scheduled daily practice sessions focusing on batting against spin, bowling variations, and fielding drills to sharpen the side’s overall game.
Head coach Mark Coles expressed optimism about the camp, emphasizing the importance of preparation in foreign conditions. “We want the players to adjust quickly to conditions similar to what we expect in the World Cup. The goal is to build confidence and consistency in all departments,” he said.
The training program also includes fitness and mental conditioning components, ensuring that the players are both physically resilient and mentally sharp for high-pressure encounters. Senior players such as Bismah Maroof and Diana Baig are expected to play key roles in guiding younger squad members during the camp.
With Pakistan aiming to make a strong impact on the global stage, this camp in Colombo marks a crucial step in their journey. The players will also participate in a few practice matches against local sides, giving them valuable match practice before the tournament.
Fans back home are eagerly following the team’s progress, hopeful that the blend of youth and experience in the squad will translate into strong performances. As the countdown to the World Cup begins, all eyes are now on Colombo, where Pakistan’s women cricketers are laying the groundwork for their campaign.
