Pakistan’s T20 Struggles Against Top Teams Raise Serious Questions

Pakistan’s T20 Struggles Against Top Teams Raise Serious Questions

Pakistan’s T20 struggles have become a growing concern for fans and experts alike. Once known for fearless cricket, the team now battles inconsistency against top international sides. These poor results have exposed deep cracks in strategy and performance.

Declining Results and Missed Opportunities

In the last three years, Pakistan’s win rate against top-five teams India, England, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa has dropped below 35%. The team has won only a few matches in ICC tournaments and bilateral series. As a result, Pakistan’s once-strong reputation in T20 cricket has faded fast.
Against England, Pakistan lost a seven-match home series 4–3 in 2022. That same year, they suffered a heartbreaking defeat in the T20 World Cup final. Meanwhile, Australia continues to dominate in key encounters. India still controls their rivalry in ICC events, while New Zealand has consistently outplayed them.

Reasons Behind the Decline

Experts believe the main issues lie in inconsistent batting and heavy dependence on a few bowlers. In addition, the team struggles to adapt to modern T20 tactics. Players like Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi shine individually, but teamwork often falls short.
With the 2026 T20 World Cup approaching, Pakistan must act fast. The team needs a stronger middle order and a more aggressive mindset. Otherwise, the downward trend may continue, disappointing fans and hurting Pakistan’s proud cricket legacy.
