Passport Services Suspended Abroad: Pakistan Missions Announce Temporary Halt

Pakistan has temporarily halted passport services abroad at all its foreign missions. Officials announced the decision after technical issues disrupted systems at the headquarters in Islamabad. As a result, applicants across several countries now face delays.
The Pakistan Embassy in Saudi Arabia shared the update through an official notice. It confirmed that the suspension affects all overseas missions. However, officials promised to announce service restoration through verified social media channels.
The sudden pause has created concern among overseas Pakistanis. Many people need urgent document renewals for travel, work, and legal matters. Therefore, embassies have urged applicants to follow official updates closely.

Technical Issues Disrupt Global Processing

Authorities linked the disruption to technical problems at the central passport system in Islamabad. Officials have started working to resolve the issue quickly. They aim to restore smooth processing as soon as possible.
The embassy stressed that the suspension remains temporary. However, it did not provide a clear timeline for recovery. As a result, applicants must wait for further instructions.
Officials advised people to avoid unnecessary visits to embassy offices. Instead, they should monitor embassy websites and social media accounts. This step will help applicants receive accurate information.

Abu Dhabi Embassy Advises Online Applications

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Embassy in Abu Dhabi issued a separate notice. It also suspended passport services because of technical and maintenance issues.
The mission asked the Pakistani community in the UAE to use online application services where possible. For example, applicants with non-urgent requests can complete digital submissions. In addition, those with pending cases should wait for fresh guidance.
This temporary disruption affects many families and workers abroad. Still, officials expect services to resume once systems stabilize. Until then, applicants should stay patient and rely only on official embassy announcements.
