PIA Privatization Assets Include 12 Local and Overseas Properties
The government has moved forward with the transfer of PIA privatization assets as part of the ongoing privatization process of Pakistan International Airlines. Under the plan, new owners will receive 12 properties located in Pakistan and several foreign countries. The move supports the government’s strategy to reduce the airline’s financial burden and improve its operational structure.
Officials have included a mix of commercial offices and residential properties in the asset portfolio. These properties hold significant value and form an important part of PIA’s real estate holdings. As a result, they are expected to play a key role in the privatization process.
The government believes the transfer of these assets will help streamline airline operations. Moreover, officials hope the move will attract investor interest and support long-term financial sustainability.
Overseas Properties Form Key Part of Portfolio
Several international properties are included in the PIA privatization assets package. In the United States, a residential property carries an estimated value of $1.935 million. Meanwhile, PIA’s Amsterdam sales office in the Netherlands is valued at €2.105 million.
The residence of the country manager in the Netherlands has an estimated value of €767,000. In India, a residential property is worth approximately Rs112.5 million. Additionally, the airline’s New Delhi sales office has a valuation exceeding Rs121.9 million.
These overseas assets represent important investments made by the national carrier over the years. Therefore, they add considerable value to the overall privatization package.
High-Value Properties Located in Pakistan
The privatization plan also includes some of PIA’s most valuable properties within Pakistan. The Islamabad sales office carries a valuation of Rs2.68 billion. Similarly, the Rawalpindi booking office is worth around Rs2.55 billion.
Among all domestic properties, the Peshawar sales office has the highest valuation. Officials have assessed its value at approximately Rs5.56 billion. Meanwhile, the Quetta sales office is valued at nearly Rs916 million.
The transfer of these PIA privatization assets marks another important step in the government’s restructuring efforts. Through this process, authorities aim to improve efficiency, reduce financial pressure, and strengthen the future prospects of Pakistan’s national airline.
