Punjab Enhances School Safety Measures After Province-Wide Security Audit

Punjab has intensified school safety measures across the province. The update came during a meeting chaired by Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat. He said a detailed security audit of all educational institutions is underway. As a result, the government aims to create a secure and supportive environment for students.
The school education department has received clear directions. These include completing boundary walls, improving guard training, and installing technical security equipment. In addition, institutions must follow updated SOPs that focus on prevention and rapid response.
The minister stressed that panic buttons must be installed in every institution. He added that ensuring a peaceful and safe atmosphere for students remains the government’s top priority. Therefore, schools will receive guidance to meet all requirements without delay.

Security SOPs and Guidelines Fully Implemented

Rana Sikandar Hayat said the mapping of all schools and colleges in Punjab has been completed. This mapping helps authorities track compliance and identify gaps. He explained that the government is taking every possible step to enforce security SOPs. In addition, institutions will receive ongoing support to meet safety standards.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has also issued clear instructions. These include strict security audits, updated emergency contact numbers, and the appointment of focal persons in each institution. These focal persons will coordinate with district authorities and guide staff during emergencies.
The minister noted that cooperation between schools, parents, and local administration is essential. He encouraged institutions to report issues immediately so officials can resolve them quickly. With these steps, the province aims to reduce risks and strengthen confidence among students, families, and educators.
Together, these enhanced school safety measures reflect the government’s commitment to protecting learning spaces and ensuring peace of mind for communities.
