Punjab Inter Exam Fee Hike Sparks Parent Protest Over CCTV Charges

The Punjab Inter Exam Fee has sparked fresh protests across the province.
Education boards raised CCTV charges from Rs.30 to Rs.1,030. The new fee applies to Intermediate annual exams in May 2026. As a result, many families feel sudden financial pressure. Authorities added the revised CCTV cost to the exam entry fee. However, parents believe this move places an unfair burden on students.

Why Parents Are Concerned

Previously, boards charged only Rs.30 per student for CCTV installation. That small amount applied during the Matric annual exams. Now, the jump to Rs.1,030 has shocked many households. Parents argue that schools and exam boards should manage security costs. They say students already pay enough in tuition and exam fees. Therefore, adding surveillance expenses feels excessive.
Many families struggle with rising living costs. In addition, education expenses continue to increase every year. For example, books, uniforms, and transport already strain budgets.

Call for Policy Review

Parents have urged officials to review the decision. They want authorities to withdraw or reduce the extra charge. According to them, collecting millions from students for cameras seems unjustified. Supporters of the protest say exam transparency is important. However, they believe funding should come from institutional budgets. As a result, the debate now centers on fairness and accountability.
Education plays a key role in building inclusive communities. Therefore, policies should consider students from all economic backgrounds. Many families hope the government will respond quickly and find a balanced solution. The Punjab Inter Exam Fee issue continues to gain attention on social media. Parents and students alike are waiting for clarity before the May 2026 exams.
