Punjab Labor Rates Revised for July to December 2026

The Punjab government has announced new Punjab labor rates for the period from July to December 2026. The Finance Department issued the official notification on Tuesday. Officials said the revised wages will apply to government development projects and construction estimates across the province. The updated rates will also affect public sector contracts during the next six months. Authorities expect the revised wage structure to improve budgeting and ensure uniform payments for workers engaged in government-funded projects.

Revised wages for different workers

Under the new notification, unskilled laborer’s will receive Rs1,538 per day. Skilled workers, including masons, electricians, plumbers and welders, will earn Rs2,000 per day. Meanwhile, gardeners, chain men and other semi-skilled workers will receive Rs1,560 per day. In addition, laborer’s employed on a monthly basis will receive Rs40,000 per month.
Officials said all government departments must follow these revised rates while preparing project estimates. Therefore, departments cannot use previous wage schedules for new development schemes. The updated rates will remain effective until the end of December 2026. Authorities believe the revised wages will provide a standard payment structure for laborer’s working on public projects across Punjab.

Development projects to see cost changes

The revised labor rates will directly affect the estimated cost of government development schemes. Contractors must calculate project expenses according to the new wage schedule. As a result, construction estimates for roads, schools, hospitals and other public infrastructure projects may increase.
Officials said the revised rates will also influence future contracts awarded by government departments. Moreover, engineers and project planners must update financial estimates before approving new schemes. The Finance Department introduced the revised rates to reflect current labour costs and maintain consistency across public projects. Authorities expect the updated wage schedule to support transparent budgeting, fair worker compensation and smoother execution of development projects throughout Punjab during the July to December 2026 period.
