Punjab Market Timings Relaxed Across Province Until June 2026

Punjab Market Timings have been relaxed across the province until June 1, 2026. The Punjab government announced the decision through an official notification issued by the Services and General Administration Department. Under the new policy, shops, markets, shopping malls, hotels, restaurants, and food outlets can now operate without fixed closing hours. As a result, businesses across Punjab will have greater flexibility in managing daily operations and serving customers.
The decision also brought relief to traders and shopkeepers in Lahore. Earlier, the district administration had instructed markets to close by 8pm. However, authorities have now withdrawn that restriction with immediate effect. Officials believe the updated policy will support business activity and improve shopping convenience for citizens. In addition, many traders welcomed the move and said flexible operating hours could increase customer visits and improve sales in commercial areas.

Lahore Administration Withdraws Earlier Restrictions

Lahore Deputy Commissioner Ali Anan Qamar confirmed that the administration removed the earlier market closing deadline. He said businesses can continue operations for longer hours without facing penalties or restrictions. Therefore, traders across the city expressed satisfaction with the decision and called it beneficial for economic activity.
Officials explained that the government introduced the policy to facilitate businesses and create convenience for shoppers. Moreover, authorities expect shopping malls, restaurants, and food outlets to see increased customer traffic during evening hours. Many families prefer shopping after work, especially during weekends and holidays. As a result, business owners believe extended timings will improve commercial growth in Lahore and other major cities.

Traders Welcome Extended Business Hours

Market associations and traders praised the Punjab government for easing restrictions across the province. They said earlier closing deadlines affected sales and created difficulties for businesses. Furthermore, traders believe flexible timings will help strengthen commercial activity and support local markets.
Officials also reminded businesses to continue following safety and administrative regulations despite relaxed hours. Meanwhile, citizens welcomed the decision and described it as convenient for daily routines and evening shopping plans.
