Punjab School Closure Order: Strict Action Against Violations Until March 31
Punjab school closure orders have created major disruption across the province. The Punjab School Education Department has directed all schools to remain closed from March 10 to March 31. It warned of strict action against any institution that violates these instructions.
Strict Enforcement and Sealing of Schools
Authorities have taken a firm stance on the Punjab school closure directive. Officials confirmed that any private school found open will face immediate sealing. In addition, authorities may cancel the registration of such institutions.
They will also issue show-cause notices to those responsible. Meanwhile, public schools must follow the same rules. Otherwise, officials may withhold salaries of headmasters and teachers.
Education departments now require daily compliance reports. As a result, authorities have already sealed eight schools in suburban areas for violations.
Admissions Halt and Academic Impact
The Punjab school closure has also affected the admission cycle. Authorities have banned private schools from offering new admissions during this period. Therefore, the usual March admission process has stalled.
Parents typically enroll children between March 1 and March 31. However, closures that began on March 10 disrupted this routine. Reports suggest admissions may drop sharply this year. Some estimates show only 20 percent admissions compared to last year.Private school representatives, including Abrar Ahmed Khan and Irfan Muzaffar Kiani, have criticized the decision. They argue that closures have disrupted exams and admissions.
Meanwhile, officials decided to promote students from Grade 1 to Grade 7 without failure. Promotions will take place on March 31 due to incomplete examinations.Authorities also warned schools against calling staff or students during closure. They stated that such actions violate government orders. As a result, strict penalties will apply to any institution that fails to comply.
